Mission, South Dakota -- The Rosebud Sioux Tribe recently opened a 27,289 square foot supermarket on their Reservation in Mission South Dakota. This was a project that they worked on for three years to bring to completion. Native American Bank provided a $1.3 million loan to purchase the freezers and refrigeration equipment for the store as well as initial inventory stock. Construction funding for the supermarket was provided by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Community.

The Turtle Creek Crossing Supermarket has a pharmacy as well as a full service delicatessen both of which are welcome additions to the Reservation. Prior to the opening of this store, tribal members drove 50 miles one way to purchase groceries and other necessities. This business will create 60 new jobs on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in addition to providing basic services to the community.
